Senior Engineer to Work on the New Enterprise Data Platform

Join our newly established multicultural Cloud Data Platform squad to implement an AWS-based platform in partnership with Databricks. You’ll work on advanced tech, supporting data professionals and squads in key areas like ingestion, processing, and management, while leaving legacy tools behind.

The squad is a part of Data Platform Tribe, which operates as the “Professional Data Warehousing Team,” sourcing and managing data from various systems across the bank’s geographies. It utilises the Group’s infrastructure effectively to facilitate timely and accurate data, enabling business intelligence and regular reports for a wide range of internal and external users, including regulators. It also has technical ownership of the infrastructure supporting the group-wide data platform and possesses in-depth knowledge of the data held by the bank regarding its customers, products, costs, and personnel.

The Cloud Data Platform squad is responsible for building and maintaining the new cloud data. The team will enable not only data professionals from across all group functions, but also enable the other squads in the tribe to deliver on key initiatives in capabilities such as ingestion, processing, curation, orchestration, protection and management of data.

The focus of this squad is to leave all legacy tooling and environments in the past. You will therefore get the chance to work on a cutting-edge tech stack across platform capabilities.

Your core task will be focusing on transforming our current federated data platform into a new event-driven solution, enhancing both on-premises and cloud integrations as part of our F28 Strategy. Depending on your experience, you may be offered a different seniority of the role.

The workplace is located in Vilnius. Danske Bank supports workplace flexibility (we currently use a hybrid work model, where we work at least 3 days in the office).

You will:

  • Create, deploy, update, and support cloud-based data platform infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using IaaS and Terraform
  • Administer the new data platform, complying with strict security policies
  • Support the development of monitoring and observability solutions and standards for the new data platform
  • Support the development of event-based data ingestion at scale
  • Support the technical implementation of a Data Products framework
  • Support the automation and optimisation of data engineering processes

About you:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a DevOps/infrastructure role, with an emphasis on data-oriented architectures
  • Experience with CI/CD, IaaS, and Terraform
  • Knowledge of AWS or other public cloud data platforms
  • Backend development experience in Python or Java
  • Experience implementing Databricks in an enterprise would be beneficial
  • Experience as a Data Engineer or Data Scientist is beneficial
  • Exposure to Pub/Sub and Kafka streaming services would be beneficial
  • Problem-solving attitude and a willingness to take on and resolve diverse tasks, as there will be very little repetitive work in this role
  • Self-driven, able to motivate yourself and others
  • Advanced English skills

Monthly salary range from 4160 EUR to 6240 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
