Senior Business Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst with strong coding skills (especially in SQL), analytical capabilities, and an interest in interpreting and applying complex legislation to ensure effective controls for Danske Bank and its customers.

Our team works with risks and controls related to key regulatory frameworks such as MiFID, Dodd-Frank, SFTR, and EMIR. Skills or experience with these regulatory areas would be highly beneficial.

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who will contribute to delivering a robust testing framework within regulatory risk areas in Danske Bank.
The Business Controls and Product Management (BCPM) department is central in supporting the Business in reaching its strategic goals, with reporting lines to the heads of the three business units: Large Corporates & Institutions, Business Customers, and Personal Customers.

About the role – develop, improve, and manage testing

Core Functions is home to an independent 1st Line of Defence (LoD) control testing unit within BCPM, separate from the control ownership and operation in the business units. The aim is to ensure that controls are designed and operated effectively. You will work closely with colleagues within BCPM, at all levels, as well as key stakeholders from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd LoD.

This role does not include a relocation allowance.

You will:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive control testing for regulatory risks, including test scripts for key controls, test frequency, etc.
  • Analyse and interpret testing results to identify issues, root causes, and improvement opportunities for regulatory risks across business areas
  • Improve and optimise existing code, particularly in SQL and SAS, to enhance efficiency and accuracy in testing processes
  • Investigate and resolve issues with no conclusive manual by applying a problem-solving mindset and a willingness to dig deep into details
  • Identify opportunities for test automation for key controls and work in partnership with Core Functions teams
  • Interpret and apply complex legislation and ensure control outputs are compliant with regulatory requirements, specifically related to MiFID, Dodd-Frank, SFTR, and EMIR
  • Support the escalation of test results and monitoring for senior management and governing risk committees

About you:

  • Have Strong technical skills, with the ability to read, write, and optimise code (SQL is essential; SAS is a plus)
  • Have proven experience in analysing and debugging code to identify issues and root causes
  • Have experience with non-financial risk management, particularly in regulatory risks. The knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as MiFID, Dodd-Frank, SFTR, and EMIR would be highly beneficial

  • Possess a knowledge of financial products and processes, with the ability to combine risk management principles with business needs
  • Are willing to read and interpret complex legislation while working with large datasets to assess their impact on financial controls and processes
  • Have a methodological approach with a willingness to dive into complex problems and work on issues where no predefined solutions exist
  • Are proficient in written communication and able to convey complex findings clearly and concisely
  • Are advanced in spoken and written English, with additional knowledge of either a Nordic language, Polish, or Lithuanian being a plus

Monthly salary range from 3600 EUR to 5400 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
