International Indirect Tax Manager

We are seeking an International Indirect Tax Manager to join our Indirect Tax Team, part of Group Tax. This position offers a great opportunity to be part of an innovative and international tax environment across all business lines within the Danske Bank Group. Your key task will be providing VAT assistance to the business units within Danske Bank Group with a strong focus on optimising processes and ensuring correct implementation of VAT requirement in different systems throughout the organisation.

Group Tax supports the global tax affairs of the Danske Bank Group, with employees in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, the U.K. and Finland. Group Tax consists of 16 employees in Denmark and 28 globally, of which 9 highly skilled colleagues are working with VAT and other indirect taxes maintaining a strong indirect tax technical environment for knowledge sharing and sparring.

Your workplace will be at Danske Bank’s premises in Vilnius with the possibility of also working from home. In Vilnius you will have 3 other Group Tax colleagues. Danske Bank supports workplace flexibility (we currently use a hybrid work model, where we work at least 3 days in the office).

This role requires a combination of professional VAT expertise and the ability to work with systems, processes, and data. You have significant knowledge of EU VAT law, and preferably also Lithuanian VAT law. Experience in VAT relating to investment structures, financial services and products, and banking activity would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.

You are outgoing and able to engage in open and constructive dialogue with different stakeholders within the organisation. Being part of an agile and collaborative environment, you possess the ability to learn and understand complex structures and communicate clearly and effectively in meetings and writing.

Depending on your experience, you may be offered a different seniority of the role.

This role does not include a relocation allowance.

You will:

  • Provide VAT advice, train and provide other assistance to business units within Danske Bank Group, hereunder business units in jurisdictions without VAT specialists
  • Be in close cooperation with Accounting, Accounts Payable and Cost Management, Lithuania, among other things to ensure VAT compliance in systems and processes across different jurisdictions
  • Participate in strategic projects, hereunder projects relating to VAT data and system requirements
  • Do project Management of VAT projects with implications in different jurisdictions
  • Drive process improvements related to VAT handling in procurement
  • Prepare, review and adopt internal guidelines to ensure compliance and consistency across the organisation
  • Perform risk mapping and analysis
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure timely implementation of relevant VAT requirements
  • Conduct impact analysis on key VAT initiatives, for instance ViDA, and rulings and assist in implementing necessary changes to systems and processes

About you:

  • 5+ Years of Experience in VAT, for instance within an indirect tax department at an accounting firm, law firm, or tax administration, is essential
  • Law degree, MSc, BSc, BBA, or equivalent qualification would be considered as a beneficial asset
  • Strong understanding of VAT-related systems and tools, with an interest in leveraging technology for process optimisation
  • Experience working with data analysis in a VAT or finance context, including extracting insights from VAT data to support decision-making
  • Team-oriented but also motivated and able to work independently
  • Structured, analytical, and possesses clear communication skills
  • Consistent and can work with colleagues across the organisation, delivering high-quality results efficiently and timely
  • Advanced English skills, both verbally and in writing

Monthly salary range from 4320 EUR to 6480 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
