Chief Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a DevOps and Platform Engineering experience for Observability Backend team, that owns stateful services for the Service Reliability and Observability.

In the Service Reliability and Observability (SRO) department, we develop and provide modern observability services and standardized practices to ensure IT systems are efficient and reliable, saving time for infrastructure and software engineers.

We offer challenging tasks in changing environment combined with technological ownership and ability to suggest and implement improvement projects.

Our team owns Elasticsearch, Thanos, Kafka and Tempo that are used in centralized Observability services to keep logs, metrics and traces.

You will:

As a Tempo SME in Observability Backend team, you are expected to:

  • Be responsible to define/improve the monitoring and alerting rules for Tempo clusters
  • Own (plan, define requirements, supervise and implement) Tempo clusters migration from on-prem DC’s to AWS (example of the project)
  • Design and implement Tempo stress-tests to measure the performance limits
  • Suggest the improvements of the cluster’s topology – to increase the performance limits
  • Mitigate issues with Tempo’s functioning, implement the preventive measures (own Postmortem’s and improvements tasks)
  • Analyse Tempo performance, identify the deviations from usual patterns and define, document and implement corrective actions
  • Be responsible for the Tempo’s SLA (99.3% availability)

As a member of the Observability Backend team, you expected to:

  • Participate in the Oncall rotation for services provided by the team. To do so you will need to be able to mitigate (by using the runbooks) issues with:
    • Elasticsearch
    • Thanos
    • Kafka
    • Flink

About you:

  • At least 7 years of experience working as a Software, Infrastructure Engineer or within SRE domain
  • Experience owning (defining strategy, deploying, monitoring, detecting areas to improve, implementing changes)
  • High sense of ownership and can-do approach
  • Upper-Intermediate skills in written and spoken English
  • Experience with server-side technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, OpenShift, etc
  • Experience owning Observability and Monitoring tools (like Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack, Tracing)

Monthly salary range from 5440 EUR to 8160 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
