AWS Kafka Platform Engineer

As a Chief Platform Engineer, you will join our dynamic development team, playing a crucial role in code development, design, operational support and architecture. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with team members to enhance systems and applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness. Leveraging your expertise, you will assist the product owner in defining direction and exploring innovative strategies to enhance and expand the team’s portfolio. You should feel comfortable engaging with stakeholders within and outside the organization. Additionally, you will communicate effectively to larger audiences, educating and advocating for our Kafka offering while gathering requirements and feedback from stakeholders.

About the squad you will be joining

The squad is a cross-located team with members based in India, Denmark and Lithuania. The team is responsible for managing Kafka, RabbitMQ and IBM MQ (decentralized) while supporting developers in integrating asynchronous and event-driven solutions throughout the bank.

You will:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent Kafka, including architecture, setup, optimization, troubleshooting and an in-depth understanding of Kafka internals (e.g. brokers, producers, consumers, Kafka Streams, connectors) and related ecosystem tools
  • Proficient in designing and maintaining distributed data pipelines and real-time streaming solutions, with a strong understanding of security best practices for Kafka, including encryption, authentication and access control
  • Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, monitoring, logging and alerting tools for Kafka (e.g. Confluent Control Centre, Prometheus, Grafana) as well as general knowledge of infrastructure build tools and Azure Pipelines/GitHub Actions
  • Ensure features are delivered through an agile, incremental process

About you:

  • Problem-solving and adaptability: Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, with a quick learning mindset to adapt to new technologies and changing environments
  • Communication and teamwork: Excellent verbal and written English skills; capable of working effectively in a cross-location agile environment and conveying information clearly to team members and stakeholders
  • Customer focus: Experienced in support roles, managing on-call responsibilities and resolving user incidents while prioritizing tasks and stakeholders effectively
  • Leadership: Proven ability to guide and mentor teams in adopting Kafka and Confluent Kafka technologies
  • Thrive in a flat organizational structure, embracing collaboration and shared decision-making
  • Commitment to continuous personal development, including obtaining and maintaining relevant certifications
  • Stay curious and informed about industry standards and advancements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Advanced English skills

We offer:

Monthly salary range from 5200 EUR to 7800 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
