Chapter Lead for Data Warehouse Solutions

The Data Platform Tribe within Technology Services / Data & Functions provides Danske Bank with centralised Data Warehouse, enterprise reporting, and analytics services across multiple banking domains.

The Data Warehouse Platform Squad:

  • Operates as the “Professional Data Warehousing Team,” sourcing and managing data from various systems across the bank’s locations.
  • Utilises the Group and bank infrastructure effectively to facilitate timely and accurate data, enabling business intelligence and regular reports for a wide range of internal and external users, including regulators.
  • Possesses subject matter expertise in the data held by the bank regarding its customers, products, costs, and personnel.
  • Utilises new and emerging technologies to improve the extraction speed, data quality, and clarity of presentation for both internal and external users.

As a Chapter Lead, you will partner closely with the Product Owner in a “2 in a box” model, ensuring the squad operates efficiently using agile methodologies. You will be responsible for guiding the implementation strategies—the “how” of task execution. Your core activity will focus on transforming our current federated data platform into a new, event-driven solution, enhancing both on-premises and cloud integrations as part of our F28 strategy.

As a Chapter Lead, you are an innovative and experienced leader, blending deep domain expertise with a focus on coaching and developing others. You serve as a “team member and coach,” spending approximately 50% of your time managing your Chapter, and the remaining 50% as a contributor in a Squad delivering value by completing work.

The workplace is located in Vilnius, Lithuania or Copenhagen, Denmark. Danske Bank supports workplace flexibility, currently offering a hybrid work model where working from home up to two days a week is an option.

You will:

  • Oversee the transformation from a batch processing framework to an event-driven data platform, ensuring a seamless transition
  • Act as the HR manager for a team of skilled software engineers, supporting their professional and personal development, including performance reviews, training, and recruitment
  • Ensure that all implementations conform to our architectural design and uphold the bank’s best practices
  • Be responsible for the migration of the existing data warehouse to a new platform hosting Data Products

About you:

  • Experienced in transitioning from batch processing to an event-driven data platform, and from an on-premises data warehouse to a cloud-based solution
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in data infrastructure within a Data Platform
  • Good exposure to Pub/Sub and Kafka streaming services
  • Comprehensive understanding of ETL development utilizing Python or SQL
  • A minimum of 1 year in a leadership role, demonstrating the capability to lead, mentor, and cultivate a skilled technical team
  • Effective communication skills and upper-intermediate English proficiency

Monthly salary range from 5200 EUR to 7800 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
