Senior Compliance Officer Advisory in Group Transaction Monitoring

We are looking for a Senior Compliance Officer to join our Group Transaction Monitoring (TM) team and help us supporting on Transaction Monitoring initiatives to provide oversight of compliance risk management and governance. The team you will join are based in Copenhagen, Warsaw, Helsinki and Sweden.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing SME oversight and advice to the Business Unit Teams in the development and maintenance of a transaction monitoring framework employed by Danske Bank to combat financial crime. As part of the 2nd Line of Defence, the role purpose is also to provide SME advice, as well as check and challenge the business and senior management on Money Laundering (ML) and Terrorist Financing (TF) compliance matters. Additionally, the role’s purpose is to conduct ongoing risk monitoring and reporting on the Bank’s ML and TF risk exposure.

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have excellent negotiation and soft influence skills, and an understanding of banking systems architecture, data flows and the Financial Services sector and products. For the right candidate, there will be plenty of opportunities to develop and prove yourself over the coming years. Experience in conducting risk assessments using various methodologies (quantitative and qualitative views) or building /reviewing statistical models and ML tools will be a plus.

Depending on qualifications and experience, successful candidates may be offered Compliance Officer or Senior Compliance Officer roles.

You will:

  • Provide SME support and advice to the Business in the development and maintenance of an AML & CTF operating framework, with a focus on the design and maintenance of transaction monitoring scenarios, tools and models employed by Danske Bank to combat financial crime
  • Provide constructive checks and challenge to the first-line risk assessments, solution and control designs, and processes related to ML and TF
  • Conduct targeted reviews of the components of the 1LoD AML risk management framework and controls, prepare periodic reports on the conducted reviews, including identification of areas of high risk and insufficient monitoring
  • Work on the development of Danske Bank’s policies, instructions, standards, and other governance documentation related to AML and CTF transaction monitoring
  • Support the institution during regulatory engagements and work on the development of action plans needed to address regulatory expectations
  • Maintain expertise in AML and CTF in line with current regulatory requirements and industry trends
  • Represent the Group Transaction Monitoring team at Bank-wide and Group Compliance Committees and other relevant governance forums as appropriate
  • Promote responsible Compliance culture and be a role model for the Bank’s core values

About you:

  • 2-3 years’ (CO) or 3-5 years’ (SCO) experience working in related roles within the financial services or risk management areas: Compliance and Advisory, Risk Monitoring, Management or Governance, Financial Crime Prevention, Controls Design and Maintenance
  • Experience with various aspects of transaction monitoring framework employed by Financial Institutions to monitor transactional activity, including risk management, data sourcing, typologies or such tools as statistical models or machine learning and a good understanding of the AML/CTF regulatory environment and risk and control frameworks
  • Experience in providing clear and concise risk or issue statements, disclosures or escalations to senior leadership or regulatory bodies
  • Advanced skills in spoken and written English
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Law or equivalent working experience in a relevant field (e. g. accounting, financial operations, etc.)
  • Certified AML Specialist (CAMS), International Compliance Association (ICA) or other recognised AML certifications or other Compliance or Risk Management Certification
  • Any recognized AML, Compliance or Risk Management Certification would be a plus
  • Knowledge of any of the languages from the Nordic region would be a plus
