IT Software Engineer in Risk Tribe

Mainframe Risk

Be part of building the future! Risk is at the core of everything we do as a bank. We are motivated to transform the way we handle risks, and this is your opportunity to make a difference and develop yourself both personally and professionally.

You will be joining the Risk Tribe, where business and IT professionals work in cross-functional teams to strengthen the bank by proactively delivering analytics, data, and services for robust risk management. The teams are self-organized and empowered to make their own decisions while working on the end-to-end delivery of products and services.

You will be a member of a squad that is responsible for systems that monitor risk related to various banking products like loans, guarantees, derivatives, and geared investment portfolios. The team owns some very complex systems that have great strategic focus both internally at Danske Bank and with the financial supervisory authorities in the different countries where Danske Bank is operating.

Tribe technologies range from in-house mainframe applications to cloud-native solutions supporting our business goals. In your role as an IT Software Engineer you’d contribute to building, supporting, and modernizing a robust back-end for our business rules and data.

A large part of our code is written in the PL/I language. We’d help you get up to speed with it. We also transition some functionality into the Java/Spring and C#/.NET stacks. To let us do well and succeed in this role, you’d be a keen developer in some language and keep an open mind about the stack your skills would be applied to.

"We’re open to people from all different walks of life and cultures to join our team."

You will:

  • Analyze, and understand business requirements
  • Design and build code solutions for the problems
  • Document code you write
  • Research, understand, troubleshoot, refactor, and improve existing code

About you:

  • Experience in application development; understanding of PL/I or some C-like procedural language would be ideal for understanding most of our code, but other programming experience might work too
  • You know the building blocks of programs well: major programming paradigms (imperative, declarative), algorithms
  • Experience with IDEs (Eclipse-based would be beneficial) and other dev processes and tools like version control
  • Experience in or willingness to work with Java/Spring, C#/.NET stacks for back-end development
  • Experience or willingness to learn Mainframe technologies (advantage): to be able to understand our code in order to contribute to our modernization journey
  • Understanding front-end technologies would be beneficial as we use in-house frameworks you may need to work with occasionally and are also transitioning into React-based UIs
  • Great communication skills, as in this position, most of what you deliver comes from understanding the problems and turning them into solutions using code as a tool
  • Upper-Intermediate English language skills

We offer:

Monthly salary range from 3280 EUR to 4920 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).

Additionally, each Danske Bank employee receives employee benefits package which includes:
